Retaining walls in Cumming and North Atlanta
Retaining Walls in Cumming, GA
Block, boulder and stone walls that hold a slope and make flat space.

What it involves
What goes into it.
Most yards around here slope, and a retaining wall is how a slope becomes a flat place for a patio, a lawn or a play area. It also stops soil washing down onto the driveway or the house.
What holds a wall up is the part you never see: a solid footing, gravel and a drain pipe behind it so water does not push it over. We build every wall with that drainage in place.
People usually call us about this when
- The yard is too steep to use
- Soil or mulch washes down after every storm
- An old wall is leaning, bulging or cracked
- You want a flat level for a patio or lawn
- The driveway or house sits at the bottom of a hill

Send photos of the slope
Pictures from the top and the bottom help, and so do any after a heavy rain.
We measure the grade
We check how tall the wall needs to be, where the water comes from and what the ground is like.
Plan, price, build
You get a layout and a written price. Taller walls get an engineer's design before we start.
Price and timing
What changes the price.
A short garden wall can take a few days. A tall wall takes longer, and an engineer's design or a county permit adds time before we start. We tell you which on the site visit.
- How tall and how long the wall is
- Block, boulder or natural stone
- How much soil has to be moved
- Whether an engineer and permit are needed
Questions people ask
What to know about retaining walls.
Does my wall need a permit?
Taller walls usually need an engineer's design and a county permit. We tell you on the site visit whether yours does.
Can you fix a leaning wall?
Sometimes part of it can be rebuilt. If the footing or drainage was never there, rebuilding it properly is usually the only lasting fix.
Block or boulders?
Block gives clean lines and steps easily. Boulders look natural and suit wooded lots. We show you examples of both.
